The composition and the aesthetic quality of the set aim to evoke the atmosphere of Sarah Kane's text.  The anarchaic grafitii, coupled with the sharded columns draw the eye upwards, framing Hippolytus against this abstract, industrial backdrop.  The costumes have a timeless quality, and, like the set, do not define themselves to a period, allowing these broken characters to appear vividly.
